Profile

Before coming to Dalhousie, Dr. Guy taught various courses in Concordia University, University of Ottawa and Carleton University. Dr. Guy published a book in which he used Niklas Luhmann’s systems theory to promote a new understanding of globalization (globalization as society’s self-description) challenging the way we’ve been thinking about the global-local interface, the origins of globalization, the relation between globalization and national territories, and the relation between globalization and the welfare state. His current interests include classical and contemporary sociology theory, history of sociology, philosophy of social sciences, theories of modernity, global history, and social cognition.
